Weichai has always adhered to the operation strategy of product-driven and capital-driven and is committed to developing products with three core competitiveness: quality, technology, and cost. It has successfully built the synergistic development pattern among powertrain (engine, transmission, axle, and hydraulics), vehicle and machinery, intelligent logistics and other industrial sections, with famous brands such as “Weichai Power Engine”, “Fast Gear”, “Hande Axle”, “Shacman Heavy-duty Truck”, and “Linde Hydraulics”.
Weichai owns R&D platforms such as State Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine Reliability, National Engineering and Technology Research Center for Commercial Vehicle’s Powertrain, National Innovation Strategic Alliance for New Energy Power System Industry of Commercial Vehicle and Construction Machinery and National Professional Makerspace. It has established “Academician Workstation”, “Post-doctoral Workstation”, and other research bases, as well as State Demonstration Base for Intelligent Manufacturing. The Company has set up R&D centers in Weifang, Shanghai, Xi’an, Chongqing, Yangzhou, etc. in China, and also cutting-edge technology innovation centers in many places around the world, which establishes a global collaborative R&D platform to make sure that the Company’s technological level is always at the forefront of the world.
Weichai has established a service network composed of more than 5,000 authorized maintenance service centers throughout China and more than 500 overseas maintenance service stations. Weichai products are exported to more than 110 countries and regions.
In recent years, Weichai has won the National Quality Award, China Trademark Gold Award – Trademark Innovation Award, State Demonstration Base of Enterprise Culture, China Quality Award, and other honorary titles. The project “Key Technology and Application of Powertrain for Heavy-duty commercial vehicle” was awarded the first prize of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award in 2018. Xuguang Tan, chairman of the Company, is also the Secretary of Party Committee and chairman of both Shandong Heavy Industry Group and China National Heavy Duty Truck Group and chairman of Weichai Group. He also holds concurrent posts such as the presidium chairman of China Federation of Industrial Economics, the vice president of China Enterprise Confederation/China Enterprise Directors Association, China Machinery Industry Federation, and China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. He has been consecutively selected as the representative of the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th session of the National People’s Congress, and awarded the National May Day Labor Medal, National Model Worker, National Excellent Entrepreneur, 4th Baohua Yuan Enterprise Management Gold Award, China Equipment Industry Meritorious Entrepreneur, Top 10 Innovative Figure of China in 2011, Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up – “Outstanding Figure Award” of China Automobile Industry, China Outstanding Quality Model, Yuanzhang Liu Quality and Technical Contribution Award, Touching Shandong Figure of the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up Shandong, “Leonardo International Prize” of Italy, Qilu (Shandong Province) Model of the Times, Qilu (Shandong Province) Distinguished Talent Award, “The Most Beautiful Striver” for the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC, Outstanding Entrepreneur in Shandong Province and Shandong Governor Quality Award. He receives the special government allowance of the State Council.
